How to Post the Flak Comics Page

Most of the comics are self-updating — you don't need to do anything to them.

This includes (list as of 5/23/05): Public House, Beef Jerky, Poppycock Circus, Dinosaur Comics, Special Day, Perry Bible Fellowship, Scenic West Monroe, Darby, and Thadeus & Weez.

1. A couple comics are emailed in every week. These include Catalogue by Ben Chandler and Alda by Brad Sime. They need to be renamed catalague.jpg and alda.jpg.

2. Cut 75x75px thumbnails with 1px black borders out of them and call them catalogueth.jpg and aldath.jpg.

3. Now, go look in the comics/catalogue folder. You'll see a lot of different archived catalogue files — catalogue21.jpg, catalogue22.jpg, etc. Make a copy of this week's catalogue.jpg. Name it catalogueXX.jpg, where XX is one higher than the highest existing catalogue archive file.

4. Now, go to the Softer World and Bob the Angry Flower websites. Download their most recent comics onto your desktop, and name them softer.jpg and bob.gif.

5. Make softerth.jpg and bobth.gif thumbnails, at 75x75 pixels with black borders.

6. Pick one of the week's most interesting-looking comics, and cut 100x100px and 150x150px versions of it, with 1px black borders around them. Name them comics100.jpg and comics150.jpg (or .gif, if they're .gifs).

7. Time for the uploading, muthafuckah! Put the alda.jpg and aldath.jpg files into the alda folder in the comics directory. Repeat for everything else you've done (Bob, Softer, etc.).

8. Put comics100 and comics150.jpg into the comics folder itself.

9. Now, download comic.html. Comment out any comics that haven't been udpated, comment in suddenly lively comics, change the date in the header, and add another line of Catalogue Archive text so people can get to the newly archived new Catalogue comic. Reupload it.

10. Update index.html so that Comics is the top item in the rotation. Usually you just have to move it up from lower in the stream, and change the date, and the teaser.

11. Viola. You are done.
