Super Bowl AdsSuperbowl XL: Break 7

The Shaggy Dog | Disney

Summary: Tim Allen stars as an animal-hating jackass who somehow manages, like Kafka in "Investigation of a Dog," to metamorphose into a rabid canine. Through most of the ad, Allen is seen trailing around other dogs, salivating and making himself look like the bastard descendant of a german shepherd. It's the remake of the Kirk Douglas movie of the same name and looks like total tripe wrapped around a stale Raisinette plotline.

High Point: No real high point, just low comedy.

Low Point: The whole frickin' thing.

Will this commercial soothe the minds of scandal-weary Americans? No. Americans already watched Allen do this kind of stuff on "Home Improvement."

"Easy Being Green" | Ford

Summary: Kermit the Frog canoes his way into the wilderness, crossing through forests and singing a soothing song. Kermie eventually climbs a mountain where he discovers the new Ford hybrid.

High Point: Hearing the comforting tones of Kermit's voice.

Low Point: Seeing Kermit's legs moving without strings or poles.

Will this commercial soothe the minds of scandal-weary Americans? Yes. Ford is ushering us into the future of transportation, which will be entirely anti-industrial and led by well-loved puppets.

"Love Tackles All" | Michelob Ultra Amber

Summary: Jerry O'Connell lookalike tackles a hottie. But he gets away with it because he's drunk.

High Point: Faithfully revives the classic formula of man torn between passion and reason. Sort of.

Low Point: Oh, the choices.

Will this commercial soothe the minds of scandal-weary Americans? Yes. How often do we see ads combining hot women, football and beer?
