Introducing Flak Audio
by Flak Staff
The written word is so last century.
Who reads anymore? Everywhere you look, newspapers and magazines are battling declining circulation. Intellectuals have been muttering something or other about the "death of the novel" since about 1980. And most nonfiction publishers would kill for sales comparable to the audiobooks for "The Da Vinci Code" and "Tuesdays With Morrie."
More people younger than 30 probably watch "The Daily Show" than read the Wall Street Journal. Hell, most kids 5 and younger don't even read.
So rather than cling desperately to the dwindling demographic of people who can read, we're embracing the future and launching one of those podcast thingers we, um, read about in the New York Times. Starting today, we'll be offering them through Flak's front page. You can also find and subscribe to them in the iTunes Music Store by doing a search for "Flak Audio." Note the boffo intro/outro music by Wayne Lewis.
Flak Audio is still evolving, but you can expect a mix of new and classic Flak articles, as well as some material developed exclusively for podcasting once we get a few of these under our collective belt. If you've got any questions, or would like to write or read for Flak's podcasts, contact our podcast czar, Tim Wright, at tim at flakmag dot com.
