SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM FLAK PHOTO

This has been an exciting year for the blogs and for Flak Photo's mission to promote distinctive photography from around the globe. In addition to launching a monthly Weekend Series and photo books section, we featured work from Jen Bekman Gallery's A New American Portrait, Hunter College's Regarding Intimacy, the Photographic Resource Center's Annual PRC Juried Exhibition, Minnesota Center for Photography's PhotoBravo, Humble Arts Foundation's In the Dirt and Magenta Publishing for the Arts' Flash Forward: Emerging Photographers 2007.

Thanks to each of you for your continued support of the work we're doing with the blog; we've lined up a variety of interesting projects for 2008 and look forward to expanding Flak Photo's coverage of new photo essays, book projects and gallery exhibitions in the coming year.

THE 36 EXPOSURES CHALLENGE

Is photography dead? We don't think so, and neither do our our pals at FILE Magazine and Coudal Partners, who we're teaming up with to present The 36 Exposures Challenge. In it, we ask you to use a film camera to explore Stephen Shore's concept of "conscious intentionality." Broadly speaking, we want you to do two things: articulate a concept, project, or theme and then use a film camera to photograph the images to accompany it. Sound interesting?
