Julia Lipman
If Julia Lipman were to fill out the Nerve/Salon personals
questionnaire, not for the purposes of attracting a mate, but rather to
write a Flak bio in a new and exciting format, it would look something
like this:
I am: 25 years old
My occupation: Computer science grad student
City: Ann Arbor
State: MI
Country: UNITED STATES
Last great book I read: Evelyn Waugh's Scoop.
Most humbling moment: Being told by noted Time essayist
Lance Morrow how bad an essay of mine was.
Favorite on-screen sex scene: None, but I just love that scene in
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington where Jimmy Stewart collapses after an
impassioned, demanding filibuster to keep crooked real-estate
developers from bulldozing his pristine campsite.
Celebrity I resemble most: Tiffany.
Best (or worst) lie I've ever told: "Lance Morrow loved my essay."
Song or album that puts me in the mood: The mood to write
Flak articles, right? I don't know about a song per se, but
checking Metafilter is usually how I start out. Then Plastic, then
Slashdot, then Plastic again because I might have missed something in
the Media section, you never know, sometimes they post stuff at 3:30
am...
The five items I can't live without: A navy blue cardigan, Origins
"Mercurial" lipstick, cardamom, green steno notebook, Salon Premium.
Not really Salon Premium.
Fill in the blanks: J-school is sexy; dropping out of J-school is
sexier.
In my bedroom, you'll find: A famous statistical graphic
depicting the utter and complete devastation inflicted upon Napoleon's
army by his march to Moscow.
Why you should get to know me: I subscribe to Inside magazine. I can
get you back issues.
