The entries are in, the judges have judged, and the Chrome Ball Contest has come to a glorious close!

We received 21 separate entries from ten different entrants, so we'd like to thank all those participating for making this the most kickass Liberator contest ever. The magic of Andrew Evenson's Chrome BaIlTm has been honored by your attentions.

First of all, we'd like to thank Wendy Thepboriruk, Andrew Evenson, and Daniel "Vinny Da Pimp" Norton, for their services as judges. Each judge voted for their five favorite and five least favorite entries, and a complex scoring system was used to work out which entries won.

The 2nd place prize, a copy of Front 242's really terrible CD, Evil Off, goes to the lovely Jessica Forbess, a freshman at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jessica, who entered by mail, said that her entry had something to do with comparing religion to the administration or something. We lost that section of her entry, so we're not sure. Anyway. Congrats to Jess!

The 1st place prize, $10 in Brat and Brau gift certificates goes to the ever-impressive Carl Stern, for his entry that featured the Chrome Ball crushing someone. The caption of his entry has also brought about Andrew Evenson's new offical chrome ball saying: "Resistance Is Futile". Very nice, Carl.

The GRAND Prize, a $15 shopping spree with the Liberator Supreme Command Council, goes to Ben Granby. Ben's entry makes light of the "Gothic" youth movement, and is pretty well drawn. We thank Mr. Granby for his cleverness, and salute his entry. The shopping spree will take place the next time the entire Supreme Command council isn't doing something more important.

Finally, Worst Entry honors go to Toby Martin, whose entry was really bad in ways far too numerous to go into without overrunning our cost constraints for this issue. One onlooker commented that Toby's portrayal of Barney made Barney look like "a spastic chicken." Toby receives a dozen unsharpened pencils, some sticky adhesive scotch tape discs, and a certificate of demerit.
