Fortune Chinese is Linger-Ficken Good

I don't know how many people have asked me "where can you find good fast Chinese food in an authentic truckstop atmosphere?" Probably none. However, I do have an answer: Fortune Chinese Restaurant.

For those of you who (like myself) had no idea that this place existed, it's located on Regent Street in what used to be the dine part of Dunk or Dine. And, aside from the conspicuously placed Chinese paraphernalia, it still looks like a diner. Despite this Sino-White Trash atmosphere I found the experience rather enjoyable.

One of the first things I noticed about this charming place was the incredible selection. Among the many exotic dishes on menu were these potentially tasty treats:

Pot Sticker (4 for $2.00)
Three Color Fishballs Soup ($6.95)
Happy Family ($8.25)
Twice Cooked Pork (Pork Cooked Twice ($6.95)

I finally decided onthe Crab Puffs (4 for $2.00), and the Orange Beef ($6.95). The waitress said I knew how to pick a dish. Cool. While we waited for our food, a tall Chinese guy came over to the table to fill out water even though we hadn't started drinking it yet. Now that's service! Our food came momentarily, and I found out why it costs so much. The helpings are really really big. The food that I was able to scarf down was very good, if a little rich. The tea was only average, but it was free. Having stuffed myself beyond the point of comfort, I left satisfied that I had found good fast Chinese food in an authentic truckstop atmosphere. It's now what I expected but hey, I didn't expect that the Badgers would win the Rose Bowl either.
