Re: Ghetto-Rigging an Air Conditioner
Eve, just read your lovely story on air conditioning, having just discovered Flak Magazine by searching for articles on Mykel Board.
I'm from Arlington Heights, and I recall visiting my friend Shawn in Barrington, in a townhome complex, and wondering about "the poor" in that affluent town. I took a friend from San Francisco to ogle the hot properties in that rural enclave, and we marveled at the bubble the residents could enjoy living in. But the people I met weren't homeowners, and I mused about what the check-out line staffers and pizza parlour employees thought of the rich-poor divide illustrated so starkly in their everyday community.
So thanks for the update, and I hope that jerry-rigged contraption keeps you cool. Still, thinking about that Arctic weather a few months away, I bet you'll recall the summer fondly. I always had a love/hate relationship with that simmering July season myself.
Yours, Todd

Re: Aaron Spelling: 1923-2006
Just wanted to say I liked your article on Aaron Spelling! I have been thinking about him lately since the Emmy tribute and I think your article gave a good picture of his contributions. It was really well-rounded and well-written.

p.s. I too was not invited into the Spelling mansion. :(
